i just wanted to hi and that i'm still alive and i don't know why i haven't written anything in over 7 months. in the 7 years i've been on here that has been, by far, the longest i've gone. i'm sorry, i'll do better.

i had a vacation a couple weeks ago. i was supposed to go to thailand, but on the third day of full flights, we realized that it just wasnt worth it anymore because after a 17 hour flight to Bangkok, 5 hour bus ride to Trat, and 1 hour ferry ride to Ko Chang, we would only have about 48 hours until we would have to turn around and do it again. it was very disappointing, but we immediately started brainstorming for somewhere else to go and not waste any more time in gloomy New York. my criteria for this vacation was-- beaches, sun, exotic plants, and animals that i normally only see in a zoo. and preferably first class. Costa Rica seemed to fit the bill so we got on a flight to San Jose the next morning, bought a Lonely Planet Costa Rica book in the airport, rented a car, and drove until we found a hotel on a beach that we liked.

last night i went to the nutcracker put on by new york city ballet and it was great. a few weeks ago i put up my christmas tree and it is also great.
im in the christmas mood even though the closest thing i have really been seeing to snow is rain and slush.
i also got to see my lovely friends in chicago a couple of weeks ago and it was the best

i told myself that i would start updating this more often, but i have been slacking big time.
since i wrote last, i have moved out of atlanta and into new york city-- rockaway park to be exact. even though i hate our neighborhood im having a good time and wouldnt have it any other any way right now because i get to hang out with mike pretty much every day is were not working so i always have fun. plus manhattan is just a short subway ride, so all is well.
this morning i got back from a little vacation that i took with the one and only, kristen, to Mazatlan (mexico). richard also flew down and joined us part way into it. we (k and i) were there for 4 nights total, so 5 days and it was fantastic! i feel like i never get to take vacation for that long! the weather cooperated for the most part and we did all kinds of fun things like horeseback riding, banana boat, dancing to mexican jams, ocean kayaking, boogie boarding.. it was sooo soo much fun. i can't wait to do it again sometime! even though we left bruised, burnt, and battered it was absolutely worth it!

a couple (i think?) weeks ago, i went back to michigan to play with my dog and go camping! we only went for one night, and didn't get to canoe because we go there too late but it was still fun! i will let the pictures explain...

it's been so long since livejournaled! pretty much nothing too exciting has been happening so i don't ever feel like i have anything to post about, but i think i might start doing it more again.. mainly because i'm thinking about buying a new digital camera which always make life 100 times more exiting! i feel like if i don't have pictures to go along with my posts, it's not even worth it and lately i haven't been taking pictures because while i still do love my camera on a sentimental level (it has been through everything and everywhere with me in the past 2 years!), i really want a nicer one. recommendations?
so here is what i've got from the past couple of months. went to a few atlanta braves games, went to chicago, went to michigan, been playing a little bit of scrabble..

so get up freakishly early this morning, fly to la guardia, bus over to jfk airport, waste a few hours there, and just as im walking to check into my hong kong flight, it dawns on me

i dont know why i waited soo many months to send that piece in but i am sooo excited to get back a working one!!!
i am also excited that i finally went to the dentist after not having gone in over a year, eventhough they told me i have 2 cavs (cavs=cavities, btw) that i have to get fixed next week
and im excited that i bought an antenna for my tv so i can actually use my new tv
excited that i finally bought a sewing machine today so i can hem all of my jeans, but mainly my favorite pair that depress me when i see them sitting on the floor in my closet because theyre soo long & i worry about someone else making them too short because i dont trust anyone
also excited that i ordered internet for my apartment, so in about a week i will say goodbye to paner bread, except when i am hungry
